Wanetta Gibson was ordered to pay $1.5 million as well as an additional 1.1 million in fees for making a false claim and other court related costs.

For those of you that need a refresher on the Brian Banks case here you go:

In 2002 Brian Banks was a high school football star at Long Beach Polytech High with a scholarship to University of Southern California. Gibson, also a student there, lied and accused Banks of raping her. She sued the Long Beach Unified School District claiming that it was not safe at the high school and won a $1.5 million settlement.

Brian's scholarship was revoked and he spent five years in prison. When he was released Gibson sent him a friend request on Facebook.

Really chick? You lie on the man and take his freedom and now you want to be his friend?

Gibson wanted to help him but didn't want prosecutors to know she lied because she feared they would make her pay all of that money back. Banks was able to get footage of Wanetta Gibson's confession with the help of one of his old teammate's father who happened to be a private investigator. With the help of the California Innocence Project and private investigator Freddie Parish, Banks' conviction was reversed and he was later exonerated of all charges.

Even though Brian couldn't play college football, he is now signed to the Atlanta Falcons.
